グランディア2 | Grandia II
Game description
Grandia II was a standout JRPG originally for the Sega Dreamcast, following the journey of "Geohound" mercenary Ryudo as he escorts church songstress Elena on her mission to thwart the resurrection of an evil god, while being the victim of demonic possession herself. Despite being its sequel, Grandia II is a standalone game with an unrelated story to the original Grandia.
It was rereleased in an "Anniversary Edition", and then an "HD Remaster" on Steam and Nintendo Switch. Oddly, despite it being in Japanese originally, the English version was used as the base for the rereleases and Japanese language support was not re-added until several years later.
Dump info
The Japanese SCN files from the PC (Steam) HD Remaster were dumped with Romjuice using a TBL file; the English files use normal encodings and can be read as-is. Miscellaneous hard-coded English UI strings are spread out across several DAT files and were matched with entries in the Japanese patch file manually.
Due to how the SCN files are arranged and how I cleaned the dumps, some lines may have been truncated or contain extra garbage characters, and some sections may have their speaker tags mis-assigned. If you happen to notice any errors, please contact me so I can fix them up!
Story dialogues are divided by map location rather than in narrative order, so revisited locations contain unsorted lines from multiple points in the story and the epilogue.
